BEGINNERS POTTERY CLASS for Parent + Teen in the Gallery of Good (Trafalgar, VICTORIA)

Wed Afternoon 4-6pm 

Term dates:  Wed 23rd April - Wed 28th May. 

6 sessions @ $750 ( price includes parent + child).

This class is designed for those parents + children (ages 8+) that have little or no experience with clay. It is an opportunity for you to get your hands in clay together & build your skills by giving you hands on knowledge in various aspects of hand building as well as some unique projects to cater for younger people.

What a great way to build a relationship with your kid- doing something fun as beginners - TOGETHER!!

Everything offered at the Gallery of Good is intended to be a good experience for your eyes & ears and for your your heart & soul. This class is no exception. It is a 6 week term, each week comprising of one x 2hr session. Please wear comfortable clothing, closed toe shoes and bring your own apron & towel to each session along with an open mind. Bookings are non-refundable so please be sure you can attend prior to booking. Please do not attend class if you are unwell in any way. There are no credits offered for missing class (we can discuss possible make-up times)

 
NB: PLEASE ENSURE YOUR child has had afternoon tea prior to coming to class to make sure they have enough sustenance for the afternoon!

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT? 

• The Gallery of Good is an inclusive space intended to bring joy to all who come into its space. We expect everyone who attends to be respectful & inclusive of ALL diversities. We will not tolerate any behaviours that make others feel unsafe. Participants who demonstrate inappropriate behaviour or are disrespectful to others will be asked to leave our Gallery.
• Classes at the Gallery of Good are limited to 6 students in total per session allowing a comfortable intimate learning atmosphere while allowing plenty of one-on-one teaching time for each student in order to enjoy the best learning experience.
• We will explore the different hand-building methods of slab, coil & pinch pots. We will have some set projects to help build an understanding of clay and its possibilities but also a lot of time to explore your own ideas using the knowledge you gain along the way.
• Students are encouraged to search the internet, magazines etc for inspiration and to make a visual diary of ideas (either using a book or making a pinterest board) - however, please be respectful of artists copyright and while I encourage you to be inspired by others work, please do not copy. Discussion of ideas at each session is a valuable learning tool for all students so I encourage sharing & conversation about your visual diaries at each session.
• Use of all studio equipment, underglazes and studio glazes is included in the cost.
• Children are to be supervised by parent at all times.
• Use of all studio equipment, clay (white earthenware & terracotta), underglazes and studio glazes is included in the cost (use of some other glazes may be negotiated with Ruth at extra cost but please understand not all glazes are made available to use by students)
• Work from the term will be available 4 weeks after the term completion. Any pieces remaining uncollected will be destroyed.
• ALL pieces must be labelled clearly with the makers name. No liability is made for lost work.
• Please note: We do not take any responsibility for student’s work cracking during any part of the making process. Most often this is how the maker assembled the piece. Whilst we endeavour to teach you how to avoid this during the making process, unfortunately sometimes losses occur during the pottery making process. No guarantees are made to final pieces coming out whole. It is all part of the learning experience of pottery.
• The Gallery of Good disclaims to the extent permitted by law all liability whatsoever for any loss, injury, or damage sustained by any customer or third party, whether to person or property, arising out of any workshop or related activity offered by the Gallery of Good.
• Due to small class sizes we can only issue a refund in case of health reasons. All bookings are final once payment is made.
• The Gallery of Good can’t offer refund for change of mind/circumstance.
• Payment is acceptance of Terms and Conditions explained in this course outline.
